A lot of my friends have asked me to post more smoothie recipes so here it is! I have replaced my morning breakfast with a high-fiber, high-protein smoothie. A lot of these smoothies are also high in fat, but good fats! For that reason, I use it as a meal-replacement rather than a pre-workout or post-workout drink. This peanut butter chocolate smoothie is delicious! Hope you enjoy. The protein mixture I use involves: hemp seeds, chia seeds, ground flax and almond meal. The individual ingredients can be a bit pricey but I find it to be cheaper overall when compared to canisters of whey protein powder, which can be really expensive. This mix is high in protein, omega-3 fatty acids and fiber. Cocoa powder has high antioxidant benefits and just like chocolate–keeps you happy!
You will need:
- 1 Tbsp unsalted, organic, creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1 frozen banana (I freeze a ripe banana without the peel overnight and use in place of ice. The banana helps to sweeten the smoothie.)
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp hemp seeds
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp almond meal
- 1 tsp ground flax (optional)
Directions:
Blend the ingredients together really well, adding water or ice for desired consistency and enjoy!
