What a beautiful Fall it’s been here on the East Coast! Pleasant weather, sunny and breezy! We are so lucky. In the spirit of autumn, I decided to give in to the whole “pumpkin spice” craze and make this delicious pumpkin spice milkshake. I’m calling it a milkshake instead of a smoothie, because it really had the smooth consistency of a milkshake, and the banana made it nice and sweet. A friend of mine recently asked me how to cut down on sugar. She loves the occasional milkshake. Ripe bananas and unsweetened almond milk make a perfect replacement! They are filled with nutrients, fiber and protein and you don’t have to worry too much about packing on the holiday pounds. I hope you enjoy this recipe and have a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday!
You Will Need:
- 1 ripe banana, frozen (peel first!)
- Pumpkin puree
- Unsweetened Vanilla almond milk (or non-dairy beverage of choice)
- Pumpkin spice powder (cinnamon, nutmeg or allspice will do also)
- Optional add-ons: chia seeds, hemp seeds, almond flour (for extra protein)
To Prepare
- In a blender or magic bullet, mix 1-2 tbsp pumpkin puree, 1 ripe banana, 1 cup almond milk and 1 tsp pumpkin spice powder
- Blend until smooth!
- Bottoms up!
This recipe makes 1 milkshake.
